The best network finally offers an unlimited plan
According to Ronan Dunne, president of Verizon’s wireless division, Verizon now has the infrastructure necessary to provide unlimited data. “We’ve built our network so we can manage all the activity customers undertake. Everything we’ve done is to provide the best experience on the best network – and we’ve built it for the future, not just for today.”
Verizon says its fast 4G LTE network covers over 2.4 million miles and the company continues to work hard to provide the very best coverage to its customers.
With the Verizon Unlimited plan, customers will not only get unlimited talk, text and data, but the plan will also include HD video streaming, Mobile Hotspot, calling and texting to Mexico and Canada and up to 500 MB/day of 4G LTE roaming in Mexico and Canada.
There is a small caveat to the unlimited plans, however. After customers use 22 GB of data during a billing cycle, Verizon may de-prioritize that user’s data behind other customers, “in the event of network congestion.”
But it would be pretty difficult for the average smartphone user to go actually through that much data. Currently, the average smartphone user consumes about 2 to 3 GB of data over one month.
How much are the plans?
Verizon stated in a press release that it plans to offer unlimited data, talk and text for $80 per month for one smartphone, as long as customers enroll in paperless billing and automatic bill pay. If you sign up for the plan with four lines or more, it costs $45 per line for unlimited everything, including smartphones and tablets, and also requires you to opt in to paperless billing and auto-pay.
Verizon’s announcement comes on the heels of Sprint’s new offer of 5 unlimited lines for $18 each, or $50 unlimited everything for one line.
It’s a fact that you don’t have to spend big bucks to get an unlimited plan — there are many carriers offering unlimited everything plans for as little as $30 a month. But, the key for most people is getting the best coverage available in your area to line up with your needs and budget.
Increasing competition in the mobile market is driving positive change for consumers, resulting in price decreases and other incentives as carriers attempt to gain market share by standing out from the crowd.
