Walmart is getting rid of its in-store price matching at 500 stores.

While the retailer is not disclosing the affected stores, Walmart said it plans to rollback prices on thousands of items that were routinely price-matched — and those rollbacks will be long-term.

Price matching is going away at 500 Walmart stores

The change takes effect June 9, according to Coupons in the News.

Here is Walmart’s current policy:

We're committed to providing low prices every day, on everything. So if you find a lower price from an online retailer on an identical, in-stock product, or the item purchased from Walmart.com is now listed at a lower price, tell us and we'll match it*.

Walmart has confirmed that online price matching will continue. Also, you can keep using the Savings Catcher program, which provides a refund (via a gift card) if a lower advertised price is found.

Shoppers can expect to see signs in affected stores to alert them about the change.
