Shopping at Bargain Hunt: How to get a steal of a deal

When it comes to buying clothes on the cheap, a lot of people like stores such as Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls and TJ Maxx.

If you’re even cheaper, chances are you prefer thrift stores like those operated by Goodwill, the Salvation Army or your local second-hand purveyor.

But I’ve found a chain of stores that routinely offers up to 70%, 80% or 90% off on brand-new clothing.

Bargain Hunt: $3.60 for a brand-new dress shirt and slacks

While out shopping this weekend, I visited a store I that I’ve frequented in the past but hadn’t been by in some months.

Bargain Hunt is an 80-store chain headquartered in La Vergne, TN, that offers name brand clothing, furniture, toys and more at discounts of what it says are 30% to 50% off list price.

But in my experience, 70% off is more the norm.

My last shopping trip turned up some nice new business casual clothing, both shirts and pants:

Each article of clothing I purchased is from Target’s Merona house line.

These items obviously didn’t sell at the Red Retailer, which is why Target dumped a rack of these pants and shirts on Bargain Hunt.

The cost me? Only $3.60 per item before tax.

That’s 70% off the list price of $12!

And the list price at Bargain Hunt is already 50% lower than the $24.99 you’d pay for these clothes at Target.

Now, the reason these items were so cheap was because they sat for so long at Bargain Hunt.

Bargain Hunt has a unique discount system where for every seven to 10 days something sits in the store, it drops the price by 10%.

So, in my case, these items came into the store on 10/20/17 (look for the date on the white sticker below).

I went shopping in late January, so because more than 90 days had passed since 10/20/17 and the items still hadn’t sold, they were discounted a further 70% off sticker price!

See the chart below for details.

And that’s how easy it can be to find deep discounts at Bargain Hunt: Just walk in and they’re staring you right in the face!

Find a store near you in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina.
