If you haven’t already downloaded Android Pay, two credit card companies are now offering targeted bonuses as an incentive to give it a try!

Android Pay is an app that lets you use your phone to pay for items in stores, in apps and online.

Android Pay bonus offers: What you need to know

I never really had a desire to test out Android Pay until I got an offer for $5 cash back for each of the first 10 purchases made using my Discover card via Android Pay before July 31.

This offer is only for select cardholders, so check your email to see if you’re eligible.

Don’t have a Discover card? Log in to your American Express account! Slickdeals says select cardholders can get a $5 statement credit with the purchase of $5 or more through the Android Pay app.

The American Express offer can be used up to three times. It expires May 3.

How Android Pay works

After I downloaded Android Pay and loaded my Discover card, I went to a nearby restaurant to see how it works.

I thought it would be complicated, but all you have to do is unlock your phone, hold it over the payment terminal and look for the check mark to verify that your transaction has been approved.

“When you use your phone to pay in stores, Android Pay doesn’t send your actual credit or debit card number with your payment,” Android said on its website. “Instead we use a virtual account number to represent your account info Γ’β‚¬β€œ so your card details stay safe and secure.”

You may have to sign for some credit card purchases and enter a PIN for debit card purchases.

Android Pay is accepted at millions of stores around the world, wherever contactless payments are accepted. Just look for one of these symbols at checkout.

Here are some of the stores that accept Android Pay:

  • Best Buy
  • BJ’s Wholesale Club
  • Bloomingdale’s
  • Coca-Cola
  • Dunkin’ Donuts
  • Jamba Juice
  • KFC
  • Macy’s
  • McDonald’s
  • Panera Bread
  • Subway
  • Trader Joe’s
  • Walgreens
  • Whole Foods

So, if you’re an Android user with a Discover or American Express card in your wallet, check your email to see if you can save some money with these offers!
