Problem with a deal? Let us know.

Amazon has just announced its second annual “Prime Day” extravaganza. It’s seems as though this Black Friday-esque tradition might become a regular summer event. Here’s what you need to know about this July 12 super sale from Amazon.

You’ll need to be an Amazon Prime customer to shop the deals. That does include, however, Prime members that are under a trial membership. So if you are eligible for a free trial of Amazon Prime, this might be the time to use it. If you don’t have access to a free trial month and really want to participate, you’ll have to pony up the $100 for a year of membership OR pay $10.99 for a single month of membership.

How good are the deals?

That’s a tricky question. It depends on who you ask. Many Prime members were miffed last year because the sales seemed to be on niche items. And the discounts weren’t as steep as the build up to Prime Day implied. Some of the best discounts were on Amazon’s own electronic devices such as the Amazon Echo and Fire Tablet. It’s likely that deals on those products will be around for this year’s “Prime Day” as well.

Amazon has also given us more insight into the possible deals via this statement:

“Amazon will offer countdown deals for Prime members every day from July 5 through July 11. Members in the U.S. will find summer entertainment deals starting Tuesday, July 5th including a 32-inch TV bundle with a Fire TV Stick for $119.99. Countdown deals will include gadgets on-the-go, products perfect for summer travel, for foodies and outdoor living, back-to-school and in-home essentials, and daily deals on top TV series and blockbuster movies available to rent or purchase and instantly stream through the Amazon Video app on any device.”

So as we read above, Prime members might also want to be checking out Amazon’s offerings throughout the week leading up to July 12. Stay tuned to the Clark deals page as we keep you updated with the best deals that our editors find during the “Prime Day” events. We’ll keep a running list of the best deals in all of those categories.
