Cheaper cell phone bills will be the wave of the future

The cellphone industry is going through the most historic shift in pricing we’ve seen in almost 2 decades. But how low will prices go?

$10 will be the new norm for cellphone bills

Verizon and AT&T have a dirty little secret they don’t want you to know: Their cost of providing service to you has collapsed. They’re offloading about 80% of their traffic onto wifi without you knowing it.

We’re already seeing some reliable options that price out around $10 a month from competitors. Republic Wireless has a $10 a month no-contract plan for unlimited talk and text on a cellular network, though there’s no data except on wifi.

The latest price cut in the industry comes from Boost Mobile, which has just announced $35 a month for unlimited talk and text plus 2.5 GB of data. That’s a flat $35 a month, no contract.

The prices are going to keep going down, down, down!

Next up, Google is poised to become a wireless provider. They’re rumored to bring their offering live first in Puerto Rico. But very quickly, they’ll offer nationwide cellphone service at a fraction of what AT&T and Verizon charge you.

Want another sign of the times? Regional cable provider Cablevision is reportedly offering a poor man’s cellular that will work exclusively on wifi networks for $9.95 a month.
