Looking for the best cheap wine? Your wallet will certainly thank you! An average red wine costs $15.66, according to Vivino. Yet an excellent red can cost as much as $528.82. Meanwhile, white wine is only slightly cheaper: $14.41 for an average bottle and $280 for an excellent choice, Vivino notes.

That’s why it pays to know where to buy cheap wine…

Where to find cheap wine

After looking back over the deals we posted on the best cheap wines here at ClarkDeals.com during the past year, we noted several places to buy cheap wine:

Daily deal sites for wine

Meh is our favorite in this space because they’re the ones who’ve consistently posted bulk deals on wine cases.

In case you’re not familiar, Meh is a site where a single product is offered for one day at a time. You can only purchase the deal that day; if you wait until tomorrow, it will be replaced by something else, usually in an entirely different product category!

Here are some example of prior Meh deals on good cheap wine. They’re no longer available, but we present them to give you a sense of how good the deals have been historically!

Dollar store wines

You might not immediately think of places like Dollar General as a spot to pick up some vino. But the dollar store actually has a nice selection of affordable labels like Liberty Creek, Gallo and Barefoot, among others. Check out the full lineup here.

And Dollar General isn’t the only one doing this. Family Dollar also sells wine and Dollar Tree has announced plans to do so, too.

Warehouse club wines

If you know money expert Clark Howard, you know that Clark is a big fan of warehouse clubs in general. Costco Wholesale can be a great place in particular to pick up good cheap wine.

That’s because wine β€” like everything else the retailer sells β€” only gets a minimal markup of “around 14 percent,” according to Delish. Compare that to the up to 50% markup most wine sellers slap on what they sell!

Not a Costco member? No worries. Many states prohibit the sale of alcohol through any club or membership, anyway. So you may be able to buy your wine at Costco without being a member! Check with your state laws before heading to the warehouse club.

Winking Owl wine at Aldi and Lidl’s curated wine selection

Bare-bones grocery retailers like Aldi and Lidl are actually noted for their wine selection.

In particular, the Winking Owl label from Aldi has legions of devoted fans. Winking Owl features 10 varieties, encompassing everything from sweet moscato to a full-bodied cabernet sauvignon. Winking Owl Pinot Grigio even earned a Silver Medal & Best Buy recognition in the Beverage Testing Institute World Wine Championships, according to Aldi.

And Winking Owl is sweet on your wallet, too. While price vary around the country, you’ll typically find it priced anywhere between $3 and $5!

Lidl, meanwhile, has a master sommelier who curates their lineup of more than 100 wines.
