Here’s how to get a free Big Mac at McDonald’s this year

The McDonald’s Big Mac is turning 50 this year!

McDonald’s is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Big Mac by introducing a new food currency, the MacCoin.

Beginning at lunch time on August 2, customers can receive a MacCoin with the purchase of a Big Mac. Starting on August 3 through the end of the year, customers can redeem their MacCoin for a free Big Mac at participating McDonald’s restaurants.

The MacCoin features five unique designs:

• The ‘70s, flower power
• The ‘80s, pop art
• The ‘90s, abstract shapes
• The early ‘00s, technology that was at the forefront of the turn of the century
• The ‘10s, evolution of communication

Note: The MacCoin has no cash value and can only be used to redeem one free Big Mac at a participating McDonald’s restaurant. This deal is valid while supplies last through the end of 2018.
