Costco, the country’s largest membership-only warehouse club, started in Seattle in 1983 with a single store. The Washington-based company now has more than 700 warehouses in 11 countries. Predictably, the majority of its locations are in the United States. The company is the largest retailer on the globe when it comes to prime beef, rotisserie chicken, wine and organic foods. It also has made a name for itself with its selection of tires, furniture (interior and patio), and mattresses.
