The Black Friday/Cyber Week/Travel Tuesday travel deals have been rolling out! The best offers will be on packaged tours, either independent or guided. We will also see the major hotel brands offer deals of up to 40% off for various travel dates (you’ll routinely see 20-30% off but those percentages are offered year-round).
Travel Tuesday (December 3) is an increasingly popular day that targets discounts on traversing the world. Travel Tuesday has soared in popularity recently with Google search interest skyrocketing from 2021 to 2023, according to strategy and management firm McKinsey & Company.
What about airline deals? Airlines have kept the cost of flying on domestic routes down throughout 2024 so don’t expect further discounting. For instance, through the years, Delta Air Lines has not offered Black Friday/Cyber Week (BF/CW) deals in 2019, 2020 or 2021. In 2022 we saw some Caribbean routes discounted, and in 2023 only vacation packages saw some discounting.
The low-fare carriers will make splashes about BF/CW deals, but we can find these low prices throughout the year on Frontier, Spirit, Avelo and others. International low-cost carriers run great sales throughout the year, likely lower than BF/CW hyped offers.
Car rental companies have been offering discounts of up to 30% off all year, but the deal requires a full pre-payment (which we don’t recommend). We do not expect to see deeper discounts on rentals due to demand versus inventory.
We expect to see screaming deals on cruises — with the Princess sale and Royal Caribbean sale underway.
Each company will have its own validity dates, book-by dates, and cancel policies so review offers before making a final purchase. Check on the travel app for exclusive offers. For instance, IHG savings on stays through April can only be booked on the app. Also, keep in mind that most offers will require a pre-payment with no option to cancel. If the terms & conditions of the sale are not clear, contact the property directly or book via a toll-free number with an agent representative.
