Take in the fall colors on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway!

Enjoy a fun autumn outing on this railway

Plan a leaf-peeping trip in North Georgia with a 4-hour rail excursion along the Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to the mountain town of McCaysville. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway was recently designated as one of the top 5 attractions for experiencing fall color by Southern Living magazine.

The autumn foliage rides run from September 24 through November 8. Most departures from Blue Ridge are scheduled at 10 or 11am with a 3pm departure on select weekends.

Choose from three tickets:

  • Indoor car
  • Open rail car
  • Adults-only Premier Class

Per adult prices are $57 for either the indoor or open air seats and from $92 for Premier Class.

Premier Class offers seats that recline, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages to and from the destination; a small catered meal made fresh and delivered every morning; sweet treats on the return trip; a complimentary group photo; and a canvas tote bag. This class is quieter as everyone must be over the age of 18.

The rail adventure is a 2-hour round-trip of 26 miles with the McCaysville stopover. The 2-hour stopover is perfect for shopping, lunch and Instagram vacay photos. Take a walk across the “Blue Line” to stand in 2 states at once with a foot in Tennessee and one in Georgia!

Onboard are 12 bathrooms and 2 baby changing stations. Strollers are allowed on the train, but you will be asked to fold them when boarding so they can be stowed away safely during the trip. They’re returned to you at the layover, and the process is the same for the return trip to Blue Ridge.

Coolers are allowed on the train but must be small enough to fit under your seat (i.e., soft-sided 6-pack coolers). No outside alcoholic beverages are allowed. You can bring snacks and drinks aboard. A concession car located in the middle of the train sells cold/hot beverages, snacks, candy and more.

Other seasonal Blue Ridge Scenic rides include the Santa Train from Thanksgiving until Christmas and the New Year’s Eve Excursion.

Before or after your rail adventure, add a night or two surrounded by natural beauty in Blue Ridge. Check out accommodations from creekside campsites to luxury mountain cabins.
