Why I Dig this Deal:

We love this great offer supporting our heroes!

Margaritaville at Sea is offering a complimentary 3-day cruise to the Bahamas for current and former U.S. military members, fire, police, and EMS personnel and educators.

Eligible travelers can book a cruise through the “Heroes Sail Free” program, coordinated in partnership with e-commerce site GovX, on sailings from September 9, 2022 through December 29, 2023. Blackout dates will apply.

“To show our sincere gratitude for their ongoing service, we wanted to offer these frontline heroes a chance to kick off their boots and work shoes and flip flop into a relaxing getaway,” Kevin Sheehan, Jr., president and CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, said in a news release. “We hope a little downtime to recover from the demands of their day-to-day responsibilities is just what they need.”

The line’s 658-cabin Margaritaville at Sea Paradise departs from the Port of Palm Beach, Florida and sails to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island.

The offer applies to 3-day sailings to Grand Bahama Island in an interior or ocean-view stateroom, though upgrades to a suite can be booked for an added cost.

Keep in mind that a 3-day cruise includes Day 1 sailing at the cocktail/dinner hour; Day 2 ashore to spend snorkeling, shopping, enjoying the beach, and more on guided excursions or on your own and you will return to Palm Beach Port for disembarkation as early as 7:00 a.m. (so this isn’t actually a 3-day experience).

The ship isn’t one of the fancier luxury ships. She was built in 1991 and accommodates just about 1,000 (vs up to 6,000 on newer mega-ships). On board are two restaurants, 9 bars, 2 swimming pools, and 4 whirlpools.

Passengers have to be a verified member through GovX’s ID platform, and the deal applies only to those travelers on a reservation. The offer is only valid for one cruise per member each year, and does not include airfare, fees, taxes, or tips.

Passenger rates for non-members start as low as $99 per person, excluding airfare, fees, taxes, or tips.
