Why I Dig this Deal:

Imagine...no airport hassles, no time wasted. Take the train between the UK and Europe!
Clara Bosonetto | January 9, 2024

Europe bound in early 2024? If your sights are set on London, Paris or Amsterdam and beyond, take advantage of a winter and spring sale aboard Eurostar.

Launched in 2018, the high-speed train crosses the English Channel in around 35 minutes into France, and from there into Belgium, the Netherlands and beyond. You zip at speeds of up to 186mph through the longest undersea tunnel in the world, at an average depth of 130 feet below the sea bed.

The main Eurostar destinations are the capital cities of London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, with trains running seven days a week, to and from St. Pancras (known also as Kings Cross), Gare du Nord, Brussels Midi and Amsterdam Centraal stations, respectively. Other main stops — depending on the service and season — include Calais, Lille, Lyon, Avignon, Marseille, Marne-la-Vallée (for Disneyland Paris) and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Travel from London’s city center to the center of Paris in just 2 hours, and 16 minutes. Eurostar links London and Amsterdam in 3 hrs 52 mins, stopping at Brussels and Rotterdam.

This one-way Standard fares start from about $52 (£39.99). I saw this fare between London and Paris on most dates through May 22. The fare averages £44 thereafter ($56).

When you book your Eurostar ticket you can choose between the following three travel classes (all include free checked luggage):

Standard: The least expensive seats are quite comfortable with ample legroom. Not all seats have power sockets. Check in 45-60 minutes before departure.

Standard Premier: More legroom, more luxury and more lunch. With power sockets at every seat (UK + EU), you can work, be served a light meal and feel a bit more pampered. Check in 45-60 minutes before departure.

Business Premier: Arrive 10 minutes before departure, head to a quieter exclusive Premier lounge and then enjoy a hot three-course meal with champagne on board. With the same roomy seats as Standard Premier, the biggest advantage of this ticket is its flexibility. Exclusive lounges are located in London, Paris and Brussels and access to NS International lounges in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
