All Air New Zealand passengers are permitted one free stopover in Auckland in either direction. But you do have the option to add two additional stopovers are permitted in each direction for $100 more. At the time of ticketing, you can also add Australia to your NZ booking for an extra $150. Any stopover must be booked at the time of ticket purchase.

All fares require a minimum 7-day stay.

Notes on changes/cancellations:

  • Economy fares have a change fee of $100 (plus any fare difference) and are non-refundable.
  • Premium Economy fares have no change fees (fare difference may apply) and are refundable minus a $400 fee.
  • All fares may be held in credit towards the purchase of a new Air New Zealand fare (when cancellation is made prior to departure date.

Keep in mind that New Zealand winters are June, July, and August. The country has a rather temperate winter climate with days typically around 53-61°F. Autumn months of March, April and May are considered to be the best time to visit NZ — fewer tourists, long, sunny days and lower rates on hotels and resorts. Spring in New Zealand spans September, October and November.
