For the past couple of months, American Airlines has published some budget rates to reach some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful islands. I’m sharing these under $400 deals with confidence that these low rates will stick around for at least another week or so. So now is the best time to plan a getaway this spring, summer or even over the Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s holidays.

One-way from/to Atlanta:

  • Antigua $183 south, $185 north

There’s one more island destination with great rates – St. Lucia. Sale dates are not as prevalent yet will be an ideal spot for New Year’s or to celebrate early 2024 (Valentine’s Day?).

One-way from/to Atlanta:

  • St Lucia $150 south, $238 north

Travel dates:

  • St Lucia Dec 30-Feb 19 south; Jan 17-Feb 19 north

These one-way rates are for Basic Economy class. Although these routes do permit one carry-on bag and one checked bag at no extra cost. Not included is an advance seat selection or date changes. You will have the option to upgrade to Main Cabin Economy for about $40 more each way. With that upgrade, you’ll be permitted to choose a seat and changes are free (a fare difference may apply). Both class fares are nonrefundable.

Flight service from Atlanta will require one connection in both directions in Miami.

Worth noting: The trade winds keep Curacao a pleasant temperature year-round and is located outside the hurricane belt β€” so there’s no bad time to visit.

Antigua’s 95-mile shoreline is best known for its pink and white sandy beaches. Her sister island Barbuda is surrounded by protective reefs and features a large lagoon and Frigate Bird sanctuary.

Whether in or out of the hurricane zone, we strongly suggest travel insurance when visiting the Caribbean. Visit InsureMyTrip.com to compare numerous policy options.
