Clear Reserve: Save a spot in line for FREE + $75 Uber voucher with Clear Plus

Not much is free these days, but when something free can save you time and frustration when traveling — it’s a win!

CLEAR is a biometric travel document verification system used at 50+ major airports (and stadiums). It’s a paid annual membership that gives you faster, easier walk-throughs at TSA checkpoints. But now CLEAR offers Reserve at 20 airports. Travelers can access a dedicated lane at security checkpoints by making a free timed appointment in advance. Reserve a check-in time for flights departing from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm. The dedicated lane is open from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Appointment slots are limited. Advance time slot reservations can typically be made a few days to a few weeks in advance. The best way to find out is to go to the booking page and select your specific date and flight. You can even sign up for a time slot on the spot as you approach airport security. The service provides a 20-minute window, so there’s this grace period for missed appointments.

Here’s how it works:

• Click on your departure airport.
• Enter your flight details, the number of passengers in your group (up to 10; all have to go through the line at the same time).
• Select a time that works for you to go through security.
• Once confirmed, you’ll receive an email with your QR code.
• At your chosen time, enter the Reserve Lane and scan your QR code.

You’ll still have to send your bags through the scanner along with everyone else, but you’ve jumped the snaking ID lines.

The free Reserve service is not available for TSA Pre-Check or CLEAR+ passengers.
