Save big on fares to Paris!

Tickets are now available for purchase on French Bee’s new route between Paris Orly Airport and Newark Airport, starting on June 10.

This new budget airline offers three choices of airfare categories: Basic, Smart, and Premium.

Basic rates start from $139 one-way. One-way Smart rates from $208.70 and from $468.70 in Premium.

Basic economy passengers do not receive any inflight meals. Those are extra for $25 and even a cup of coffee with powdered creamer will set you back another $2.50. Seat selection is random when checking in for your flight.

The differences in the three price categories:

  • Basic: Nonchangable/nonrefundable; one carry-on bag not to exceed 12 kg (26 lbs) / 21″ x 16″ x 8″
  • Smart: Ticket can be changed for $200 + difference in new airfare and one carry-on + one free checked bag; in-flight meals
  • Premium: Ticket can be changed with fare difference; refundable for a $65 fee; one carry-on + two free checked bags; in-flight meals

French Bee flights (Airbus A350-900) depart Newark 18:15 and arrive Paris at 8:15. Orly departures are scheduled at 14:00 and arrive
Newark at 16:15.

Note: Economy class seating is dense with 10 seats across in a 3 x 4 x 3 configuration. Ouch.

A French leisure airline Corsair will begin nonstop flights between Paris’ Orly Airport and Newark Airport starting next summer.

The new route will start on June 10 β€” Corsair’s third route to the U.S. after San Francisco and Miami.

Take advantage of introductory round-trip sale rates (now on sale) of $363 on June 10 to 24 departures. One-way rates start from $199 from June 10 through July 5. Economy rates are slightly higher than French Bee’s but a few perks are included!

Flights service is with brand-new Airbus A330-900neo to accommodate 352 passengers. Departures from Newark at 22:45 arriving Paris at noon the following day. Paris departures are at 18:00, arriving Newark 20:25.

Basic economy passengers may choose a seat with online check-in 48 hours before the flight. Or, pay $20 each way to select a seat sooner. Passengers are permitted one free carry-on cabin bag – not to exceed 12 kg (26 lbs) / 55 height x 40 length x 20 width (21″ x 16″ x 8″).

Economy class seats (10 seats across with a 3 x 3 x 3 configuration) have a touchscreen for movies, games, shows and music channels with audio headphones. Seats also have a USB port to charge e-devices. Meals (even for those in the cheap seats) include a choice of two hot dinner entrees, coffee, tea, hot and cold beverages, and breakfast snack before arrival.

More notes: Corsair and French Bee do not currently participate in TSA PreCheck. Also worth noting, the legacy carriers of Air France, Delta, American, and United are quite competitive with matching low-fare carriers during select times of the year. If Paris is on your radar, it will be smart to set price alerts on your favorite OTAs such as Airfarewatchdog.com, Kayak.com, Expedia.com, and others.

And yet another low-cost carrier is jumping into the U.S. to Paris market β€” Level. The airline introduces its newest route fromΒ BostonΒ with one-way fares from just $143. The route will begin onΒ March 31Β toΒ Paris Orly AirportΒ three times a week.

Currently, that one-way sale rate is available from March 31-April 14; May 2-June 30 and August 25, 27. Other one-way rates average $194 to $244.

The sale rate is valid Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays through June 30 and additionally on Mondays starting in September. There are a number of summer blackout dates during July and August, but there are a few round-trip deals as low as $412 during this peak travel time.

Level already offers nonstop service from Boston to Barcelona and additional routes from Newark, San Francisco, and Montreal.

If you fly with Level, economy class Light fares permit one carry-on bag and one small personal item. Checked bag fees start at $44 when purchased during the initial booking and ad additional $29 if you check at the airport, or $73 one-way.

Level’s Light faresΒ only allow for a random seat assignment at check-in 24 hours in advance of departure. You can add either a checked bag or select your own seat for an additional price. Depending on the type of seat, this option will set you back $18-$84 each way.

Travelers might also consider bumping up to Level’sΒ Plus faresΒ which include a checked bag, and onboard meals and drinks. A seat selection in advance of departure will still cost extra.

A la carte prices for an onboard hot meal, snack and a drink are €35; €2.50-€14 snacks; €6-€7 booze, €4 beer, €2.50 water.
