Why I Dig this Deal:

You can take your squeeze to the sun! Some of Spirit's lowest airfares to the Caribbean are valid over Valentine's Day weekends.

Trips to the Caribbean can be frightfully expensive, but Spirit can make the trip doable with one-way rates from Atlanta averaging $100. As good as the prices are, keep in mind that you’ll need to make one flight connection in each direction in Ft. Lauderdale.

You’ve heard of no-frills airlines and Spirit is just that. You’ll be paying for a seat to sit in but nothing more. There will be extra fees for the most basic of needs/wants.

Spirit’s base fares permit you to bring aboard one personal item, like a laptop bag or purse (Spirit defines a personal item as anything 18x14x8″ or smaller).

If you decide you’ll need a larger carry-on, you will pay $35 more each way when you add that bag during your ticket purchase. If you decide on bringing that larger bag later on the fee rises to $45 one-way.

Shortcut boarding is $8 each way extra (that gets you to Zone 2 boarding). Seat selection is extra and a wider seat with more legroom are $20 more each way. And even a middle seat near the back costs $12 to reserve. Bring your own or pay $2-$8 for beverages and snacks.

Low fares from Atlanta, each way:

Cancun:

  • $104-$111 south Jan 31-May 22
  • $120 north Jan 31-March 7
