Big news! Starting April 29, WestJet will begin daily nonstop flight service from Edmonton (YEG) to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson. The service is seasonal and runs through October 26.
Edmonton is the vibrant urban center and capital of Alberta, Canada. The city is in the heart of the wilderness and its heartbeat is the river valley — 22 times the size of Central Park — running right through downtown with numerous walking trails. The land on which Edmonton is located is Treaty 6 territory and a traditional meeting ground and home for many Indigenous Peoples, including Cree, Saulteaux, Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, and Nakota Sioux Peoples.
One-way rates from Atlanta to YEG are as low as $112 on July 23 to September 26 departures. Eastbound to Atlanta, rates are $128-$138 May 6 to August 27 and $150 October 14 to 26.
What a steal of a deal when you can travel as low as $240 round-trip — nonstop! We advise booking one-way tickets as round-trip rates as somehow much higher.
Edmonton is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, whether it’s winter, summer or any season in between. A top year-round destination less than an hour’s drive from the capital is Elk Island National Park — where Cree and Métis have lived and hunted, and generations of families have chosen to picnic and play. Elk Island National Park is the cornerstone of Canada’s bison conservation story. Without the dedication of its people, herds of plains and woods bison would not thrive in Canada today.
This gentle wilderness of rolling hills, aspen woodlands and prairie meadows is a refuge for wildlife and people — and is a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve. Look for herds of bison, elk or one of more than 250 bird species that call this special place home. It’s recommended to visit Elk Island during the week to avoid the crowds!
Edmonton is a great place to embrace the great outdoors. One of Canada’s sunniest cities, Edmonton sometimes gets up to 17 hours of daylight and being farther north, a hot spot for the Aurora Borealis in wintertime.
If you want to see more of Alberta, the drive route between Edmonton and Calgary is 183 miles or about three and a half hours.
WestJet currently serves Atlanta with year-round nonstop flights to Calgary (daily), Alberta and Vancouver (6x week), British Columbia. The one-way economy fares are hands-down some of the best bargain airfares for summertime trips and leaf peeping in autumn.
