Get around on the cheap!
FlixBus, a European passenger motorcoach company, made its U.S. debut last year in California and soon after expanded to nine states. This week Flixbus will begin service between New York, Washington, Richmond and Rockville from Baltimore with introductory one-way fares of just $4.99. Naturally, prices will vary depending on demand and seasonality.
A ticket on the all-electric bus trip includes free Wi-Fi, plenty of leg room, power outlets at each seat. Bring aboard your own device to stream from a wide selection of movies, e-books, games and audiobooks in the FlixBus Onboard Entertainment Portal. There is a toilet on board all FlixBuses.
Travelers can bring along one item of hand luggage (16 x 12 x 7 inches max or all sides combined of 35 inches) and one check-in bag (31 x 20 x 12 inches max or all sides combined of 63 inches).
Some of the buses allow you to travel with a standard-size bicycle for an extra fee of $10.99 each way.
Passengers can also choose to offset their carbon emissions by purchasing CO2 Compensation tickets at an additional cost of about 1-3% of the total ticket price which is invested in the National Forest Foundation and a second certified Global Climate Protection Project from abroad.
